My modeling work

Photo to art

It begins
with me.

My process can begin with a modeling photograph or an AI-generated image. From there, I shape it digitally and may take it through Shadows into a painting made by hand.

Openness

Openness began with an AI-generated image. Here it is alongside the Shadows transformation and the finished hand-painted original.

From starting image to painted original

How I bring it together.

  1. Begin with an image

Some pieces begin with my modeling photographs. Openness began with the AI-generated image shown here. Each starting point gives me something to explore and make my own.

  2. Work with the image

I shape the image using digital tools. Color, contrast, and layers can take it in different directions. In Shadows, I work with strong black-and-white shapes to give the emotions a face.

  3. Bring it onto canvas

For these hand-painted versions, I project the altered image onto canvas. The digital study becomes the starting point for a physical painting.

  4. Paint it by hand

I paint the image by hand, bringing my colors and marks onto the canvas. The digital piece and the painting can share a name and a story, while each has its own presence.

Some images remain digital pieces or become prints. This is the path I use when I take a digital image onto canvas.

What stays personal

The image changes.
The story is mine.

Painting gives me time to sit with myself, process, feel, heal, and grow. Whether I begin with a photograph or an AI-generated image, the choices I make along the way bring my own experience into the finished work.
